Meatless Monday, Workout Wednesday, Book Worm Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday, Fun Friday… If you ask me, alliteration is awesome, however not all of the days I mentioned would be considered “fun,” but with a little alliteration it makes a commitment something you remember and stick to.
Meatless Monday and Workout Wednesday are old faves, but in attempt to watch less TV (damn you Downton-Crack-Abbey) we’re going to spend one night a week with no tube, hence “Book Worm Wednesday.” God save us.

This one is VEGAN, GLUTEN FREE, DAIRY FREE, and SOY FREE… there’s enough buzz words in this thing to make it a trending topic! I woke up last Saturday morning to gray, overcast skies, so thought it was as good a time as any to grab the crockpot and make some french onion soup.
By about 2pm, the sun was shining and it was really warm out, but by dinner time it was beginning to cool down again, and having been out all day shopping for new jeans for my husband, it was nice to come home to dinner pretty much ready. This is why I love the crockpot.
My husband loves to bbq, enough said! If there’s a way he can make a meal onto the grill, then he’s happy. Summer pretty much means at least one meal a week is bbq’d. Pretty soon this will be at least one crockpot meal a week.
It’s the last long weekend of the summer and after my husband and his friend attended the Vancouver Whitecaps soccer game, I had a few friends, plus my husband and our friend Mike, over for mexican style stuffed peppers.
A great week night dinner as well as they are simple and delicious and can be easily adapted to fit what’s in your cupboards.
I had this recipe laying in wait on my pinterest board for quite some time – my dear boyfriend can’t eat dairy – so I was quite excited to have a ladies night opportunity to make it. The recipes I’ve found suggested goats cheese, but sometimes that can be an acquired taste and I love brie – so I adapted it to my own tastes
Last weekend while I was perusing the farm market, I grabbed 6 ears of fresh corn on the cob from the local farm behind the market. 3 for $1 so why not. In a few weeks, it’ll soon be 10 for $1, and then I go corny for corn.
I had this recipe on my pinterest board, so decided I’d try it. I made a few alterations, which I’ve marked below.
I know, chicken and strawberries together on a bun, sounds weird, but once you bite into it, it’s delicious. I found the recipe amongst a few other burger ideas on pinterest from Women’s Health Magazine.
I had freshly picked strawberries in my fridge from the farm market and ground chicken in my freezer, so came together pretty easily.
They were really good, but next time, I think they need a bit of a kick in the actual patty, ie. red pepper flakes, cumin or a combination.
